Freedom Fries

It’s a fight for freedom;
A form of slavery that
Chains us to a weapon of
Mass destruction.
The noise of hate
And fear drown out the
Voice of consciousness.
Walking without legs to
Seek revenge upon
The revengeful.
Machines fight the war
Of the human race;
The war that takes the life
Of an unborn child and
Slaughters the husband
Of a loving wife.
The war that prepares
Us for peace and
The peace that never comes.

A couple from the past:

Untitled

my hands held the whip
that scared my back
my heart held the courage
or that which i lacked
my feet did the walking
over the rocky worn path
my soul felt the agony
of my almighty God's wrath
the rain came and fell
washing the blood from my hands
emancipation was spread
all over the land
freedom at last
freedom for me
freedom only exists
as freedom for the free.

House Broken

freedom lies in escape
from tourture and tourment
of life before death
chains and shackles keep movement still
scaring the skin with rust and strain
eating away at the heart
the shackles break
the chains fall
and freedom becomes inherent
in the slavery.

he took her hand with a firm grasp
and placed it on his heart
do you feel this?
he asked
it beats for you

Another unedited old one:

i pray for you
to have a love grow inside
like a tree from the earth
which bursts out of the soil
breathing for the first time
the life which it will endure
the tree is not cautious
of the wind, snow, or rain
it lives and grows as it learns
to survive the cruel world
this is what i pray for you...
a tree of love that cannot fall
or shed a tear, but stands
faithful in the sun
does not shiver in the cold
or hide from the rain
a love that knows no past,
only the strength that it has
gained from living a life
a love that sheds it's leaves
and lets new ones grow to become
beautiful once again and to show the world
that it is still beautiful from
all of the pollution and abuse.

I was looking through some old stuff and this kind of took me by surprise:

The sun sets on a world that’s far from war and peace.
A society where success is measured by fame and fortune.
Two thousand and four years of evolution and this is what we have?
A sky painted green with pollution where children
Are dying on the streets because they have nothing to eat?
Clothes cling to their body as though the tears of heaven
Have opened the floodgates for their souls?
This is what we have? A society that is built and destroyed by anger and violence?
Here we are working on world relations when we can’t even save
The relationships across the streets, let alone across the hall.
The answer to all the world’s problems is a gunshot wound to the face.

The sun sets on another person’s life.
Walking by the blood soaked body you catch a glimpse of their soul
It’s a cold and dark stare that could harden the heart of the pope.
The life of a college dropout trying to survive in the world.
Waking up each morning in a suit to sweat out the climb of the corporate ladder.
Prosthetic people walking by observing death without feeling a thing.
Men on their way to the gym to achieve the perfection that lies in imperfection
And then home to their wives who can’t feel a kiss on their lips
All because she wants to be wrinkle free like the khakis he wears.
A voice calls out of the darkness,
”Another scoundrel off the streets”
And I realize that we are living on a world that’s closer
To war and peace than we thought.
The war is the fact that people are still dying because they are different
And society doesn’t have enough room for diversity.
So you stay quite and work that nine to five until one day
The sun sets on your life and you are lying there dead in the ally
With a gun in your hand and the gunshot wound to the face.
Finally…peace.
